 40 years and has been living on the Island for the past 25 years.

GYOTAKU WORKSHOP COMING SOON!!





  1. Gyotaku (Japanese 魚拓, from gyo "fish" + taku "rubbing") is the traditional method of Japanese fish printing, dating from the mid-1800s. This form of nature printing may have been used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an artform on its own.

Instructor Tammy Barrons offers creative creatures and the not so affirmed an opportunity to explore their hand at printmaking and more.   - Class Size 3 to 10 Students

FOR KIDS

 Printmaking  (Age 8 and up)
Monday, February 17th   10am-1pm
An introduction to printmaking, this workshop offers the young artist an opportunity to explore printmaking using a variety of artistic media and found objects.  Workshop will include Monotyping.
$35. Includes materials, supplies and fun!


FOR TEENS AND ADULTS

Monotype Printmaking
Monday, February 17th  2-5pm
Monotype Printmaking consists of using a smooth surface (matrix or etching plate), paint or ink to transfer an image to paper or other substrate.  From simple to elaborate design, this art form truly produces one of a kind ‘mono’ prints.  $40.  Includes materials & supplies. 

Block Printing   
Monday, February 17th  6-9pm
Using the same basic principles that existed as early as the fifth century BC, carve your very own block for printing on cards, shirts, bags and more!  Learn the simple techniques of block printing and take home a finished print or two for your décor.  Use your design again & again to print, impress & adorn! 
$40.   Includes materials & supplies.

About the Artist:
Tammy was a resident of Anna Maria Island for 15 years, now using art to stay connected.  She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who holds a Minor in Art.  Tammy incorporates art in ‘life’ to include her career pursuits in clinical, residential and educational settings.  She is currently an Outdoor Educator & is working to establish her practice as a Recreational Therapist.  Tammy likes to explore, experiment & make art using several different mediums with her more recent creative endeavors in Photography, Screen Printing, Block Printing, and Mixed Media.  Her interest is in providing opportunities for people to learn, discover, play & grow.

MURAL PAINTING WORKSHOP





  February 22nd, 2014  
Saturday 10am - 3pm
Workshop-$150

Topics covered:
Introduction to mural painting
Brushes, Paints and other Tools
Preparation of Walls surfaces
Internal architecture manipulation
Spatial Effects
Drawing with Paint
Undercoating a design
Color and tonal effects
Overpainting and subject matter

You will need brushes and acrylic paint, rags, and a container for water.  Other tools and equipment will be discussed on the day.  You will also need a pallet, I use flat freezer plates bought in a dollar shop.  My brushes are the cheapest acrylic brushes being Royal & Langnickel from Michaels on Cortex, and Liquitex tubes of basic acrylic also bought at Micheals at around $3.

Painting with Rolando!


Learn to capture the radiant light of water color.  Class will start day 1 in light sketch of composition. Then move right into learning to recreate stunning colors using diffuse lighting.  Student will sharpen their observation skills to recreate subject matter. 

Instructor Rolando Rodriguez is well versed in water color, oils and clay. This class will explore what mediums may appeal to each student.
